jim kirk: “let me help.” a hundred years or so from now, a famous novelist will write a classic using that theme. he’ll recommend those three words even over “i love you.”

spock, literally one fudging episode later, trying to be helpful to jim even though he’s in excruciating amounts of pain: i have my own will, captain. let me help.

Matzah ball chicken soup with carrot, onion, and celery; 2014. x

Matzah ball soup is a traditional Ashkenazi dish eaten on Passover as well as the rest of the year.  It is typically made with matzah balls, celery, carrots, and chicken but many Jewish households have their own unique recipes.  Matzah balls are an adaptation of the Eastern European knödel made with Matzah meal but they were originally called knoedela in Yiddish.  When The Manischewitz Company introduced them to the United States as a packaged product, they were initially called Alsatian feathery balls.  It was only after Jewish comedians popularized the term that they were called their current name; Matzah balls.

I’m going through some stomach illness issues atm and I 100% am craving some of my mom’s matzah ball soup to make me feel better.
